-Rudramadevi is a 2019 Indian Telugu historical drama film written and directed by Gunasekhar. Produced by Nallamalupu Bujji, it features an ensemble cast of Anushka Shetty, Allu Arjun, Rana Daggubati, Aditi Rao Hydari and Sathyaraj in the lead roles. The music was composed by M. M. Keeravani with Lyrics penned by Ramajogayya Sastry while cinematography was handled by Madhiee Naidu and edited by Kotagiri Venkateswara Rao. It is the fourth installment of the "Ponvasam" series which started in 1998 with "Penn". The film was officially launched on 4 October 2018 at Nellore, Andhra Pradesh.A brave Chola king Rudra (Rana Daggubati) gives up his crown and kingdom to become the elder brother of the royal princess Dharini (Aditi Rao Hydari). Rudra's foster mother Ekambareshwara (Meena Kandaswamy) raises him alongside his younger sister Kanchu (Anushka Shetty), who later becomes a trained archer. From an early age, Rudra has dreamed of becoming one of her heroines. He rushes to the battlefields where Dharini is fighting a war and rescues a wounded man from an enemy king. The king agrees to acknowledge Rudra as his heir after he rescues his kingdom from an enemy.In the present time, Rudra's father Vira Varma marries a rich woman Sivagami (Prakash Raj) who often fights with the Chola kings. When she discovers that her daughters will not inherit her wealth, she wants to put pressure on Rudra and his mother, threatening them by giving Rudra a sum of money. Rudra comes to know that Sivagami is actually Vira Varma's stepmother. After his father's death, Sivagami locks the palace gates and bars him, Ekambareshwara and Kanchu from entering the palace. Rudra starts fighting with a bunch of goons Sivagami sent to kill them. In a fight, Rudra accidentally strikes a statue of Ekambareshwara with his sword. It turns out that this statue is a portal which leads them to a parallel universe named "Ponvasam", where all their wishes will be fulfilled. Rudra wishes to have his father's kingdom to live with Kanchu. Dharini, who now lives in the Chola kingdom, now sees Rudra as her brother. She sets out to find Rudra and brings him back to their ancestral palace, which is now in ruins. There are disturbing things happening in this parallel universe that are not happening in the real world; the store of gold that belonged to Sivagami is missing and there is a visible war between "Ponvasam" and the real world. Sivagami reveals that she holds a special identity called "Mallaki", and she had been using it for generations for her evil deeds.
